Autumn Term

So 1W had a fantastic start to the year and really settled into Year One super quickly!

We had two main topics for the Autumn Term: Space & Celebrations and Cultures.

In our Space topic, we focused on the book ‘Beegu’. We made biscuits, rockets, nebula art work and wrote some fantastic letters to the Mayor of Manchester about our discoveries.

In Celebrations and Cultures, our book focus was ‘Ossiri and the Bala Mengro’. We focused on the travelling community and created our own musical instruments just like Ossiri did! We held a Christmas fundraiser where the children made their own decorations, cards and hot chocolate cones to sell to raise money for our trip.

We have now started our Spring Topic: ‘Journeys’. Our book focus is ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’ and the children are already hooked. We have our trip to Chester Zoo booked on Tuesday 9th and I for one am super excited!

Hello world!

Welcome to Moorside Primary. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

A few quick tips before you delete this automated blog post:

  • Make sure your first post is an exciting and engaging one!
  • Ask your children what they think of the blog and what they would like to see on it. Act on their recommendations.
  • Make sure your blog demonstrates to your children how much you personally love learning. Your example will be powerful.
  • Celebrate your children’s achievements and consider them the primary audience for this blog.
  • Use hyperlinks to connect your children with content from other classes around your school, other websites and other schools around the globe.

Commit these tips to memory and then delete them. They will self-destruct anyway if this blog exhibits any signs of being boring.

This blog will be what you make it. Enjoy!
